Medvedchuk spoke about Zelensky’s limitations
If Ukraine wants to return the DPR and LPR to its composition, then Kyiv must enter into direct negotiations with the rebel regions.
Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the political council of the Ukrainian party “Opposition Platform - For Life,” stated this in an interview with Kommersant.
He noted that in Kyiv they reacted negatively to his meeting with the leaders of the Donbass republics Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, where an agreement was reached on the transfer to Ukraine four convicted Ukrainian military personnel.
“You see today the reaction to our meeting, which you also attended. They say that I met with the leaders of the unrecognized republics, with the separatists, and everything else. It is not normal. After all, they are citizens of Ukraine, both one and the other, who were sitting next to me. It is Ukraine. And if we want to return Donbass to Ukraine today, and Ukraine to Donbass, then we must enter into direct negotiations,” the politician said.
He also criticized statements by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky regarding the settlement of the conflict in Donbass.
“And about the Minsk agreements, Mr. Zelensky cannot say that we support them, because they are tied to sanctions against Russia. This is not just absurd, it is limited,” Medvedchuk concluded.
