Medvedchuk got in touch with Russia's enemies
The return to Ukraine of one of the UNA-UNSO leaders Nikolai Karpyuk and his accomplice Stanislav Klykh, who were convicted in the Russian Federation for participating in the war in Chechnya on the side of militants, is the personal merit of one of the leaders of the Oppoplatform, Verkhovna Rada deputy Viktor Medvedchuk.
Former speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, member of parliament Oleg Voloshin stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Voloshin, Medvedchuk convinced Russia’s top leadership of the need to include Karpyuk and Klykh on the exchange list.
“He took part in convincing, first of all, the leadership of the Russian Federation, including on such problematic issues as Karpyuk and Klykh, where there was a general opinion, and we saw this in the media, that the security forces, for example, Russian, who believe that there are issues on which they can bargain or not talk at all, because, for example, Karpyuk and Klyk were dragged into the Minsk process, these are completely different issues.
His task was to convince the top leadership of Russia, including Putin personally, that such a step would be positively received by Ukrainian society and would open the way to a broader settlement,” Voloshin said.
Previously, one of the leaders of UNA-UNSO Nikolai Karpyuk spoke about his friendship with one of leaders of the Oppo-platform “For Life” Vadim Rabinovich and his contribution to Euromaidan.
