Medvedchuk: Zelensky starts with what led Poroshenko to collapse
The meeting of Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the release of Ukrainian sailors arrested for violating the state border caused hysteria in the still current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who was unable to once again promote himself on this topic.
Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In addition, Medvedchuk said that the future probable President Zelensky is already adopting the methods of Poroshenko, who is in agony.
“Of course, Mr. Poroshenko was infuriated by my last meeting on April 4 with the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Putin, where we discussed the issue of releasing 22 sailors and two SBU officers.
What Poroshenko said about my effectiveness is a rhetorical question. Since December 2014, I have organized the release of 485 citizens from Donetsk, Lugansk and the Russian Federation. Moreover, if we talk about the fact that about 800 people returned home from both sides along the contact line, then this is probably a characteristic of Medvedchuk’s effectiveness as a negotiator for the release of citizens.
He (Poroshenko - editor's note) categorically did not agree to the exchange of the second stage of “all installed for all installed”, today it is 62 to 185, by the way, such an exchange can be carried out in 3-5 days. So, after Poroshenko’s refusal, I declared that I would not take part in the work of the humanitarian subgroup. This was in May last year. During the year I did not go to Minsk for one simple reason: I saw that the Kiev authorities, led by Poroshenko, are categorically against the release of their citizens, their return home and to their families.
And therefore, when information came out about my meeting with Putin regarding the release of the sailors, this, of course, once again outraged Poroshenko that it was not him, outraged that this was not at his request or on his instructions, and the fury that continues several weeks, our president, firstly, is connected with the election campaign, and secondly, first with his arrival in Moscow to meet with Medvedev, then my meeting with Lukashenko on the issue of a peaceful settlement in the Donbass, and a meeting with Putin - that’s it summed up the outcome after which the agony began. It has been going on for a long time, this is the agony of power that is leaving. This is the agony of a person who did nothing, moreover, did not want to do it and does not want to do it even in the time remaining for him,” he noted.
The politician also emphasized that neither Poroshenko nor Zelensky want to conduct a dialogue directly with the proclaimed republics of Donbass, not considering this significant. In addition, in his opinion, there is no doubt that “candidate Ze” is also supervised by the States.
“Well, precisely because neither one nor the other is going to talk to Donbass and establish peace, our party said that it will not support either Poroshenko or Zelensky. And what Zelensky’s entourage is saying today is the next stage, what was started under Poroshenko – Russophobia and anti-Russian hysteria. Because when they say that they will not talk with Donbass, they say for years that they are not going to make any concessions, when they oppose autonomy and say that this, you see, is in their understanding, as was stated by one of members of Zelensky’s team in an interview with the BBC, published today, where he said that “we are not going to lease, donate, or sell our lands.”
Why is autonomy within Ukraine associated with such concepts? This is evidence that the person who is talking about this either does not understand what is being said when they say “autonomy”, or does not understand what is being said when such terms as “rent”, “purchase” or “concessions” are used of any kind." This is evidence that in Zelensky’s team, behind him are representatives of the United States of America, the Soros team, and it was in his circle that representatives of this team were noticed, who, it seems to me, have already taken the reins of control in relation to the presidential candidate Zelensky, into their own hands,” summed up Viktor Medvedchuk.
