Medvedchuk is threatened with arrest – media
An even more high-profile case is being prepared in Ukraine, which will overshadow the case of Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadezhda Savchenko, accused of preparing a coup.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this in an article about how Savchenko was deprived of parliamentary immunity in the Ukrainian parliament.
“Many deputies noted that Savchenko may soon be forgotten, since, judging by Lutsenko’s words, a new, even more high-profile case is being prepared - against the leader of the “Ukrainian Choice is the Right of the People” movement, Viktor Medvedchuk. It is believed that he, having long-standing friendly ties in Moscow, helped resolve many difficult issues in Ukrainian-Russian relations in recent years. It is a fact that it was Medvedchuk who achieved the first large exchange of detainees at the end of 2017,” the publication notes.
The newspaper points out that Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, who submitted a complaint against Savchenko, said in his speech that he intended to establish which forces coordinate subversive activities within the country.
“We can guess who this puppet master is, because we hear here the slogans of the “Ukrainian Choice,” said Lutsenko, naming the movement led by Medvedchuk.
“If Lutsenko’s threats and hints are confirmed, this will mean that Ukraine is breaking the last, even informal, threads of ties with Russia. "What does it mean? This means it’s war...” noted one of the deputies,” writes NG..
