Medvedev and Donetsk gouged Zelensky for the return of Kuchma
The return of Leonid Kuchma to the Ukrainian negotiators on Donbass is evidence that official Kyiv is not inclined to change its position on sabotage of the Minsk agreements even after the change of Petro Poroshenko to Vladimir Zelensky in the presidential chair.
This was stated in a statement by the head of the DPR Foreign Ministry Natalya Nikanorova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Leonid Danilovich is an experienced negotiator with extensive experience, but he was already the plenipotentiary representative of Ukraine at the Minsk negotiations. The return of Leonid Kuchma to the Minsk format will not cause progress in Kiev’s implementation of its obligations,” the document says.
The famous Russian TV presenter Andrei Medvedev also spoke critically about Kuchma, recalling that he is the author of the book “Ukraine is not Russia.”
Medvedev gives a “characteristic quote” in his blog.
“...Eight months later the Swedish army was defeated near Poltava. The Zaporozhye Cossacks, loyal to Mazepa, commanded by Kost Gordienko, fought on the side of the Swedes. On the side of the Russians are the Cossacks of the new hetman Ivan Skoropadsky and among them, at the head of the Okhochekomain regiment, the Belaya Tserkov colonel Semyon Paliy, the legendary leader of two popular anti-gentry uprisings in the Right Bank, Mazepa’s personal enemy. In some folk tales, the Battle of Poltava is the battle between Palia and Mazepa.
The story of Mazepa is, first of all, a tragedy, one of thousands of Ukrainian tragedies. The battle somewhere in the Carpathian region in the fall of 1944 between the Red Army soldiers liberating Ukraine and the UPA rebels is a continuation of the battle between Palia and Mazepa. Evaluative categories are not applicable to such tragedies. A tragedy is when both sides are right,” Kuchma wrote.
“Both sides are right. A person who equates Ukrainians in the ranks of the UPA with Ukrainians in the ranks of the Red Army will again pretend that he intends to deal with the settlement in Donbass on behalf of Ukraine. The defeat of the UPA is a tragedy for him. And the story of the traitor Mazepa is a tragedy. Despite the fact that Mazepa betrayed, first of all, the interests of Little Russia and the Cossacks.
I wouldn’t expect much, especially a quick and strong peace, from Comrade Kuchma,” Medvedev comments.
