Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedei announced this today on the RBC TV channel.
“There are no freezes, everything is unfrozen, predictable, the money is planned. There is money!” Medvedev said.
He explained that in 2016, due to the difficult economic situation, the pension indexation was divided into two parts.
“We paid the first part of the indexation in the form of interest, and the second in the form of a lump sum payment, so as not to create macroeconomic problems. As a result, there will be an increase not in the nominal, but in the real size of pensions. For pensioners with a small pension, this five thousand is more than they would receive by indexation,” Medvedev said.
According to him, next year 43 trillion rubles are planned to pay pensions to 7 million pensioners.
All the talk about pensions being stopped being indexed or something being underpaid is nonsense. We will pay everything that is due. Next year we will return to the usual indexing system based on last year's inflation - 5,8%. All social expenditures in the budget are protected from sequestration. Let’s hold on!” Medvedev said.
