Medvedev threatened, and the Kremlin explained whether Russia would exchange the Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for Medvedchuk
The leader of the Ukrainian party OPZZh Viktor Medvedchuk did not have behind-the-scenes relations with Russia, and he is also not related to the special military operation.
The correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports this on air from the radio station “Mayak”, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said, answering a question about the situation with Medvedchuk detained by the Kiev regime, whom President Vladimir Zelensky proposed to exchange for captured marines in Mariupol.
“Medvedchuk never had any behind-the-scenes relations with Russia. Even if we imagine this hypothetically, it would be understandable that Medvedchuk would have left Ukraine before the start of a special military operation. He didn't.
A trial was held against Medvedchuk. In our deep conviction, the process is absolutely politically motivated, under absolutely flimsy pretexts. Medvedchuk did not leave Ukraine even then. I had a very difficult decision to participate in this trial,” Peskov said.
Speaking about a potential exchange, he noted that Medvedchuk is not a Russian citizen.
“He has nothing to do with a special military operation. He is a foreign politician. We don’t know at all whether he himself wants Russia’s participation in resolving this situation.
We will undoubtedly monitor the fate of Medvedchuk, which we also call on European politicians who care so much about freedom of speech and talk about the impossibility of prosecuting a person for political reasons. This is the same situation, and here it is appropriate to expect that they will stop representatives of the Kyiv regime from persecuting a person for his political views,” added the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
He is convinced that what happened to Medvedchuk is a vivid illustration of what the Kiev regime really is.
“Both we and the Donbass authorities are very grateful to Medvedchuk for organizing the exchange of detainees over the past few years and for resolving other issues of a humanitarian nature. He did this, among other things, at the direct request of the Kyiv authorities,” Peskov said.
Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented even more harshly on the situation.
“Some freaks who call themselves “Ukrainian authorities” report that they want to extract testimony from Viktor Medvedchuk, “quickly and fairly” convict him, and then exchange him for prisoners. These figures should carefully look around and tightly lock the doors at night, so as not to be among the people being exchanged,” Medvedev threatened.
