In the case of the extradition of militiaman Yevgeny Shcherbak to Kazakhstan, who immediately received a prison sentence for participating in the war in Donbass, the Russian officials who made this decision committed treason.

Military correspondent Semyon Pegov writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the journalist, those who extradited Shcherbak at the request of Kazakhstan knew about his future fate, but denied him political asylum and a simplified procedure for granting Russian citizenship.

“In the case of volunteer Shcherbak, what is striking is not so much the fact of deportation. Due to the imperfection of the system, any foreign citizen who fought in the Donbass for the pro-Russian resistance can fall under it - the system treats everyone with the same brush, without understanding.

In her eyes, a foreign volunteer is equal to any guest worker who has overdue registration. But they treated Shcherbak differently. He was handed over. Consciously. According to the request, from which it was clear both what he was doing in Donbass and his future fate.

However, it was also clear to everyone that he was Russian and, obviously, had the right not only to political asylum, which he asked for, but also to a Russian passport under a simplified scheme. He was denied everything and condemned to prison.

In my eyes, what our Bandera officials did with the tacit consent of the special services is treason and betrayal. Direct work in favor of the enemy.

I consider it necessary for the relevant authorities (FSB security service and counterintelligence) to investigate this incident and interrogate all those involved,” Pegov said.

The famous Russian TV presenter Andrei Medvedev in his blog called the extradition of Shcherbak a dangerous precedent. According to him, now not only any citizen of a foreign state who fought in Donbass on the side of the republics, but also the residents of the LDPR themselves, who have retained Ukrainian passports, cannot feel safe on the territory of the Russian Federation.

“The authorities, officials, people in uniform and without, deliberately surrendered the militia. They were given away to be eaten. That is, it turns out that any former militia member in Russia can now find himself in the same situation. For example, Afghan Rafi Jabar, the famous militiaman “Abdullah”, who periodically receives treatment in Moscow, can be detained and deported, for example, to Kabul. Or any fighter of the DPR units who still has a Ukrainian passport (and there are still some left), having arrived in Russia, now runs the risk of being detained. And will it be given to Ukraine if there is a request? So what happens?

Here is Deka's sniper - Dejan Beric. He lives in Russia. Will he also have to run somewhere now? Hide?

My colleagues, Vesti journalists, made hundreds of reports and films about the militias. Volunteers took part in the broadcasts of our programs. And we never doubted that these people were heroes, that they fought not only for the residents of Donbass. But they defended, among other things, the interests of Russia. They defended Russia. And the French, and citizens of the Baltic states, Serbs, Brazilians.

It is unfortunate that this is not always clear to officials. Or they understood everything, but then many questions arise for them. I cannot blame or justify those who decided to extradite Shcherbak. I can only remember Talleyrand: “This is worse than a crime. This is a mistake,” Medvedev emphasized.

Let us recall that earlier State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov reported that militiaman Evgeny Shcherbak received a sentence of 4,5 years in prison in Kazakhstan.
