Medvedev: The situation with roads in Crimea compared to the rest of Russia is simply appalling
The Russian government pays special attention to the development of the road network in Crimea and Sevastopol, since its condition in the new Russian regions is much worse than in other regions of the country. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced this today in Sevastopol, motivating the government’s decision to allocate 5 billion rubles to Crimea and Sevastopol for road repairs.

“We are finding funds with great difficulty, but in general your situation is dire.” The number of roads repaired did not exceed 10% of what was needed. The result is the deplorable state of most Crimean routes, while both passenger and freight traffic have only increased over the past two years, including due to the blockade of railway traffic through Ukraine, which is especially felt now - at the height of the tourist season and cannot but spoil nerves for motorist tourists as well,” Medvedev said.
The Prime Minister said that he receives many messages on this topic, including on social networks. He suggested that the heads of Crimea and Sevastopol personally go around all the routes being commissioned, check the quality of work and file complaints against unscrupulous contractors with law enforcement agencies.
