Medvedev was accused of bringing Russia to Maidan
Increasing the retirement age is just one of a number of unpopular initiatives planned by the government of Dmitry Medvedev for the near future - this provokes an increase in protest sentiments in Russia and a situation similar to that on the eve of the Maidan in Ukraine.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this on the Internet channel Roy TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“One gets the impression that the part of the government that is closest to our dear Western partners deliberately adopts unpopular bills. You saw Mr. Medvedev’s speeches at a recent government meeting... that it is necessary to find funds for business, people themselves must invest money. That is, again, the task of ensuring a breakthrough is shifted to citizens, to businesses, naturally, not to large ones. So far these are just bare words, but words are usually followed by concrete actions. Raising all excise taxes, sharply increasing fuel prices, raising VAT to 20% are just the first steps. The pension reform will also not immediately bring the effect they expect. They are going to stretch it out for 10 years,” Strelkov said.
He also emphasized that the current unpopular bills are far from the last decisions.
“We must wait for new initiatives from our wonderful government. Moreover, Rosstat stated that Russians now have a lot of free money in their pockets. What Medvedev said is the announcement of a whole series of laws that will definitely not be popular...
The first person may not even know that he is being framed. Another point that is discussed on the forums is how many similarities there are between pre-Maidan Ukraine and present-day Moscow. Have you forgotten that just a year before the events on the Maidan, Ukraine successfully and pompously held the European Championship?
At the same time, this European Championship did not contribute in any way to increasing the popularity of Yanukovych. Here we are, it's all over. Now the beer will finish, and people will find out that life has become worse, and much worse...
Already in the fall we will see a serious increase in protest sentiments, it is already there, we will get some manifestation of them, they will no longer be hidden,” predicts the former Minister of Defense of the DPR.
