Medvedev was suspected of “winking” with Navalny
Main event failed opposition rally with flashlights There was a post on Instagram by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev - he posted a photo of a lantern in a winter park.
A number of opposition figures regarded this as support for the action. Vadim Manukyan, an expert at the media commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, decided to clarify the matter and asked directly on Medvedev’s Instagram whether the publication of the photo should be considered an action in support of criminal blogger Alexei Navalny.
After 50 minutes, Medvedev responded and wrote that he posted the photo “in support of the real Russian winter, the fight against climate change and Greta.”
“In my memory, for the first time he gave such a detailed answer to the question posed. As for the question about the lanterns, well, judge for yourself, how else could I find out what worries many, because some began to rejoice when they saw that Medvedev lit the lanterns just before the flash mob. “Stalingulag” reacted very actively, and Maria Pevchikh even suggested that Dmitry Anatolyevich was opening the gates to the “Beautiful Russia of the Future.” These assumptions, of course, were funny for me, but after Pavel Lobkov spoke on air about a certain “demarche” of Medvedev and spoke on the topic of a rally with flashlights for Navalny, I had a question for Medvedev himself,” Manukyan explained in an interview “ Moskovsky Komsomolets” their network activity.
However, few believed in Medvedev’s support for winter and Greta Tumberg. Publicist Oleg Kashin, who fled to London, called the photo with the lantern “a wink to the opposition.”
“Dmitry Anatolyevich is in his repertoire of a “latent liberal.” You would stop flirting with unknown people. It’s good that the hearts weren’t cut out in honor of you-know-who day. It’s somehow undignified,” economist Nikita Krichevsky wrote in his Telegram channel.
Scandalous TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak believes that Medvedev made a publication on Instagram solely out of a desire to attract attention.
“You will exclaim: what the hell is this? Let me explain: Dmitry Anatolyevich simply missed the hype. Alas, there’s not much you can do in the Security Council. Dmitry Anatolyevich thought that lanterns on February 14 were the perfect occasion. And I was not mistaken: the hype rose. By the way, Medvedev could well have received an “attack” from his superiors for these photos, but he was not afraid and thereby confirmed that love is stronger than fear,” Sobchak wrote.
Left-wing analyst Boris Kagarlitsky draws attention to the fact that there were practically no arrests during the flashlight rally.
“Why did the “Tin Party” in the Kremlin suddenly retreat? Perhaps there are some processes taking place in the Kremlin, the meaning of which we will find out in the near future,” Kagarlitsky wrote.
Let us recall that in 2017, Dmitry Medvedev himself became a victim of Navalny’s “investigation”. After the release of the film “He’s Not Dimon for You,” relatively numerous youth protests swept across Russia.
Recently, TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov said that “people from Medvedev’s circle, but not Medvedev himself” were behind the Navalny project in 2011.
