“A disservice” – in Kyiv they regret the attack on Belgorod
The sole purpose of the attack by a group of terrorists on the Belgorod region was to discredit the leadership of the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian military expert Oleg Starikov stated this in an interview with Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the Belgorod region, we showed the citizens of the Russian Federation that the authorities do not protect them. Border areas are not protected. It turned out that some group came in, drove along the road, and stayed in certain places. And only six to eight hours later a counter-terrorism operation was announced,” Starikov said.
In turn, Vadim Karasev noted that, in this way, Kyiv is making things worse for itself.
“We say that this is a formative operation - to show that they have holes in the Belgorod region, that there is no one to protect the civilian population. But maybe we're doing ourselves a disservice?
They will take this into account, draw conclusions, form some kind of power circuit, and will look for how to close the holes in air defense and missile defense,” the political scientist was indignant.
Oleg Starikov completely agreed with him.
“Indeed, on the same day they sent a commission to the Belgorod region - where did they allocate ten billion for defense? A commission immediately arrived to find out how all the security forces worked. They began to form a territorial defense and recruited people.
The same is true for the air defense district - now they are determining where the holes are and filling them up,” the expert added.
