The Mejlis is ready to serve Russia faithfully, - Abduraimov
Simferopol, April 05 (Navigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars is ready to serve the new Russian government as diligently as it previously served the Ukrainian government.

Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Crimean Federal District Vasvi Abduraimov stated this in a comment to the Crimean Tatar weekly “Voice of Crimea”.
“I believe that there were no surprises at the meeting in Bakhchisarai. It is gratifying that after 70 years of the eviction of the people from Crimea and the liquidation of the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, the delegates of the Kurultai remembered national autonomy and finally decided to seek its creation in Crimea. True, they forgot to talk about what kind of autonomy they are going to build and in what state: either in Russia, or in Turkey, or in Ukraine,” the politician noted.
“It would seem strange to see the passionate desire of the Majlis to take over power, which until quite recently was called occupational and illegal. Moreover, this is being done contrary to the will and feverish efforts of their leader Mustafa Dzhemilev in the UN, EU and NATO,” Abduraimov emphasized.
In his opinion, if you call things by their proper names, the meaning of Kurkltai’s decision lies in the Majlis’s attempt to “sell its loyalty to Russia at a higher price.”
“That is, despite its destructive position during the referendum, today the Mejlis is ready to serve Russia faithfully. Just as before, it served the program of Ukrainization and assimilation of the Crimean Tatars. This proves the absolute unprincipledness of those who run this organization. They are driven solely by the interests of their survival in new conditions,” emphasized Vasvi Abduraimov.
