The Mejlis is illegitimate - the term of office of the top has expired
The Majlis, banned in the Russian Federation, is no longer legitimate for the Crimean Tatar people, since its term of office has expired. That is why the leaders of the Mejlis settled in Kyiv they are trying to hold some kind of “conference” in Ukraine and present it as a kurultai.
This was stated on the air of the Crimean Tatar TV channel “Millet” by Aider Ismailov, Deputy Mufti of the Muslims of Crimea;
“The goal is clear to everyone. People just ran out of powers. They have no legitimacy, because in 13 the kurultai met on October 27. The powers of the chairman of the Majlis have already expired. To broadcast on behalf of the people, they are trying to assemble a fictitious kurultai. This is just a staging of a national assembly, so that later it can be broadcast at the international level,” Ismailov said.
He also noted that the “delegates” of the fictitious kurultai may have problems returning to Russia due to cooperation with the Majlis, recognized as an extremist organization, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even if it looks legitimate on paper, it is morally illegitimate. Kurultai should be held in the homeland. It cannot pass somewhere,” said Mehdi Islamov, a member of the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of the Republic of Crimea.
Lemara Selendili, a member of the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of the Republic of Crimea, believes that by creating parallel structures in Ukraine, the leaders of the Majlis will try to beg for financial assistance from the Turkish diaspora. However, Crimean Tatars living in Ukraine will not receive any of this money.
“The fugitives are hoping in vain. Just the next millionaires will grow up,” Selendili said.
