The Mejlis is being pushed away from the trough: Muzhdabaev “betrayed” his American competitors
The Accounts Chamber and the State Treasury of Ukraine came to the conclusion that the Majlis TV channel ATR was misusing funds allocated by the state, which is why the article on its guaranteed financing was excluded from the budget, and the studio will now have to win the competition.
The Minister of “Temporarily Occupied Territories” of Ukraine, Alexei Reznikov, announced this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The conditions are simple. Unfortunately, the law on the state budget for 2021 does not contain a direct reference to the fact that there should be financing for the company that owns the APR, Atlant-SV LLC. Therefore, the only option remains is to go through a competition in accordance with the law on public procurement,” the official said.
Answering the question about why the parliament deprived the ATR channel of funding, Alexey Reznikov said that there were violations of targeted funding.
“This is a question for the Verkhovna Rada. I'm not a deputy. I know that there were conclusions from the Accounts Chamber regarding certain doubts regarding the violation of targeted funding. But they need to be studied. There were objections from the Treasury regarding transfers of money to a private company. I think the deputies came to the conclusion that everything should happen in a transparent and competitive way,” the minister said.
He admitted that the Mejlis members tried to extract funding through persuasion.
“I had personal meetings with respected people, Refat Chubarov, Mustafa Dzhemilev, Lenur Islyamov. We met and said that there is such a prospect. I suggested not to dramatize the situation, but based on the fact that the Rada has allocated funding to support all broadcasters who broadcast to the occupied territories - not 100 million, but 50 million (for all), today there is a request from Chernomorka (this is also a Crimean company that broadcasts in Ukrainian), from “Krym.realii,” the minister said.
"Crimea.realities"? Isn’t Congress funding them now?” – Deputy General Director of ATR Aider Muzhdabaev passed on the competition.
“I have a request, I can send a request, give me the opportunity to take part in a competition for broadcasting financing. I personally handed over copies of these appeals to Mustafa Dzhemilev. Therefore, unfortunately, today, according to Art. 19 of the Constitution, officials must act in the manner prescribed by law,” answered Alexey Reznikov.
