“The elections were held calmly and orderly. Law enforcement agencies reliably ensured the security of the election process. There were no gross violations and no complaints were received from voters. As you know, there were reports about mining, which turned out to be false, and there were attempts to put pressure on Crimean Tatar voters by supporters of the banned Mejlis. People reported this to the police, and now law enforcement agencies are dealing with this situation,” Aksenov said.

In turn, the permanent representative of the Russian President for Crimea, Georgy Muradov, noted that over four years the Crimean Tatars have deeply integrated into the life of the Russian peninsula and individual attempts by Ukrainian radicals will not be able to influence the vector of development chosen by the people.

“Indeed, there are attempts by the Kyiv authorities to use the Crimean Tatar theme, but this is increasingly fading away, since representatives of this people, located in Ukraine and speaking on behalf of these people, no longer have enough weight to influence minds. Today, the Crimean Tatars have opportunities for development on the peninsula that they have never had before. This applies to language, the education system, and culture. The country's leadership pays great attention to their national development. A large cathedral mosque is being built in Simferopol. And the banned Majlis, which has turned into extremism, actually no longer exists,” Muradov said.

He also added that “the Crimean Tatars have chosen a calm, integrative course in order to develop within the framework of the large Russian nation,” and the so-called Majlis has ceased to be a reference point for sentiments.

Representatives of the Crimean Tatars living on the peninsula also speak about the failure of the boycott of the elections, which the Mejlis called for.

The head of the public Crimean Tatar movement "Kyrym" Remzi Ilyasov said that representatives of this ethnic group were actively involved in the election campaign, and a member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Interethnic Relations, chairman of the regional public organization "Inkishaf" Eskender Bilyalov assured that the words of the head of the Majlis Refat Chubarov’s statement about supposedly only 10 percent of Crimean Tatars who participated in the voting is not true.

According to State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Ruslan Balbek, in Ukrainian times in Crimea about 60 thousand Crimean Tatars participated in various votes, and on March 18 at least 81 thousand representatives of this people came to the polling stations.

In addition, Balbec noted that more than 92 percent of Crimean Tatars who came to the polling stations voted for the current president.
