There was not a single Crimean Tatar on the lists for the exchange of detained persons between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, compiled by the new Ukrainian government.

“Crimean Tatars are concentrated around the Mejlis and are on Poroshenko’s team. More arrests may occur in the near future. What will be the position of the Crimean Tatars? Guys, the new government doesn’t care about us. This position will be promoted as an additional storyline. This is one of the dangers,” Tyszkiewicz said.

Nevertheless, during the election campaign, members of the Servant of the People party of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky declared their support for the Mejlis.
