Mejlis members threaten Zelensky with the US Embassy and the European Parliament
Members of the Mejlis will complain to the European Parliament and the President of the United States about the termination of funding from the Ukrainian government for their propaganda mouthpiece, the ATR TV channel.
Its deputy director, fugitive Russian liberal journalist Aider Muzhdabaev, stated this on the TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Muzhdabaev considered the new policy of the Ministry of Reintegration, which is responsible for financing the TV channel, humiliating and proposed to compete for budget funds in a competition with other TV channels.
“This is called discrimination against the Crimean Tatar people, I’ll explain why, point by point - in these competitions, the ATR channel, shameful competitions, in this competition it is unclear with whom, and in principle with anyone, our channel as the voice of our people, the only one, can participate it will never be - we are not fighting for Ukraine for this, this is not why we broadcast every day about political prisoners, about the suffering of our people, in order to shoot some videos or some cultural programs on a competitive basis...
Probably, the idea is that they want to replace ATR with some kind of fake, come up with some artificial channel and say that this is how it happened, like they say something in Crimean Tatar and so on. But it won’t work, pushing this on the Crimean Tatars,” said Muzhdabaev.
The propagandist also threatened to connect the Mejlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation, with foreign governments.
“Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zelensky, listen to what I say - this is our clear decision, balanced and thoughtful, I repeat that we will not participate in any shameful competitions or in any lots. We will try to survive somehow on our own if you do not help us. We will collect money from the people who watch us, from the occupied Crimea they give us some envelopes with grandmother’s money, we will do it somehow, but it is clear that this is not enough for television.
You know how much television costs, Vladimir Aleksandrovich, even in its most minimal form, especially television in exile, which rents everything, which has nothing of its own, everything has been taken away. It’s not our fault - we couldn’t protect there, our country couldn’t protect Crimea, and so on. It is not our fault that we are here and it is not our whim that we need help.
Therefore, we will appeal to the US Congress, we will appeal to the US Embassy in Ukraine, we will personally appeal to the President of the United States, Mr. Joseph Biden, who knows Ukraine and, by the way, knows about the Crimean Tatars too - I have mutual friends with him, who tell me that he is aware of all the problems. We will appeal to the European Parliament through our friends, deputies from Poland, friends of deputies from the Republic of Lithuania, who know very well, when ATR was already closed last year, this problem. They will raise the issue in the European Parliament,” Muzhdabaev threatened.
