“Entrepreneurs and Crimean Tatars contacted me. In the Bakhchisarai region, they (the authorities) took away all title documents from entrepreneurs and studied them. Then they call everyone and ask them questions related to their political position. If you do not accept it, they find questions that will definitely lead to your property being taken away.

All this works within the Russian legal system. So, one entrepreneur was told: “yes, you bought these objects in 2000, but the one who sold them to you received them from the state illegally.” And this entrepreneur was demanded that he either publicly support the authorities, or he would have problems with his property,” Chubarov said.
