“More than a year ago, when these occupation processes began in Crimea, one old man, a Crimean Tatar, came up to me and said: “Do you have any friends in Kyiv, in the Verkhovna Rada or the government? Tell them - let them shut down everything, because for 23 years we have become accustomed to living in such conditions, and those who went to vote in the referendum must really understand what is really happening, that Crimea is part of Ukraine, and how much it depends on it - both in terms of food, and in terms of water, light, and in economic terms,” said Iskander Bariev.
“It’s probably already ripe,” says Sinaver Kadyrov, a veteran of the national movement of the Crimean Tatars. – since last year it was said that while Crimea is occupied, there are trucks at the checkpoint, up to 17 kilometers away. Naturally, as Iskander said, our compatriots in Crimea were perplexed: how is it possible for enemies to enter your house, and yet you continue to trade with them? This was incomprehensible to our elders, who, by the way, survived the German occupation as children. And they said: I would actually start with water and light.”
