Mejlis members intend to surrender Crimea to Turkey
Turkey is not an ally of Ukraine, and the Mejlis, financed by Ankara, would rather annex the peninsula to Turkey than to “Independence”.
The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Voloshin, who was elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The politician noted that it is not profitable for Ukraine to fight for Crimea, since it would rather go to Turkey than remain with it.
“I would not underestimate the scale, albeit tactical, of the alliance between Moscow and Ankara. If it comes to the point that the Americans threaten Turkey with sanctions, they will obviously impose them because Turkey not only decided, but also carried out the purchase of Russian S-400 systems... Plus there is a close tandem in Syria. And "Turkish Stream", for example.
Everything that Erdogan does in the direction of Crimea, he does in the interests of Turkey. In my understanding, a certain part of our Mejlis are agents of influence of Ankara, not Kyiv. Give them free rein - they would be the first to join Turkey. I don’t think it is beneficial for Ukraine to fight for Crimea in order to ultimately give it to Turkey. This is the stupidest thing you can do,” Voloshin said.
