Mejlis members are indignant: Polish Muslims recognized Crimea as Russian
The Muslim Religious Association of Poland (MROP) has published a 2021 calendar, in which a number of mosques located in Crimea are named Russian.
Nedim Useinov, who calls himself “representative of the Coordination Council of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars from Poland,” writes about this in his blog.
He turned to the highest board of the MROP and the Polish mufti Tomasz Miskevich for clarification and put forward a number of demands.
“The official statement that I received by email this morning does not contain a clear position of the MROP on the ownership of Crimea to Ukraine. Therefore, we put forward the following requirements:
1.Publish an official statement in which the MROP clearly states that it recognizes the temporarily occupied Crimea as part of Ukraine
2. Support the previously stated position that the calendar incident was due to a terrible editorial error
3.Publish the application on the official website.
4. The application should be sent electronically and by traditional mail to all recipients who received a defective electronic and printed copy of the calendar (including diplomatic missions of Muslim and other countries in Poland)
5. In the corrected calendar, add the signature “Ukraine” in brackets after the name of the city in which the mosque is located to the pictures of Crimean mosques
6.Recall from the printing house and destroy all printed and electronic defective copies of the calendar
7. Report to the leadership of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and the World Congress of Crimean Tatars about the fulfillment of all requirements,” Useynov wrote.
According to him, the above reflects the position of the Mejlis members, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland is monitoring the situation.
