Mejlis members sacrificed funding for social programs for immigrants from Crimea in order to sponsor their ATR TV channel. Verkhovna Rada deputy, one of the leaders of the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation, Mustafa Dzhemilev, admitted this in an interview with the Apostrophe publication.

According to him, the Mejlis agreed to “independently” solve other problems of the displaced for the sake of 35 million hryvnia from the state budget for the TV channel.

“I also approached Groysman and said: “Okay, we will try to solve other social problems from other sources, but at least support the ATR TV channel.” This is the only TV channel that broadcasts around the clock to Crimea, everyone watches it, at least the Crimean Tatars, who have satellite television and antennas. We managed to recover 35 million,” Dzhemilev said.
