Members of the Mejlis raised a fuss - squatters are being demolished near Simferopol
In Simferopol, near st. Nikanorova, a conflict arose between participants in land squatting (dating back to Ukrainian times) and the developer, the Akura company (the press wrote that the company was connected with the large Crimean holding Monolit and the leadership of the Crimean capital).
The day before, construction equipment was sent to the site to demolish unauthorized buildings on the site of the future Crimean Rose residential complex.
The Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, came out in support of the protesters against the development - allegedly, the Crimean Tatars have been living in this territory for about 30 years, but cannot legalize their homes. The deputy head of the group, Nariman Dzhelyalov, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Yesterday, participants in the squatters tried to go on a spontaneous protest. However, the builders erected a fence and security was installed around the perimeter.
Residents of the area, which is now being demolished, gathered under the building of the Simferopol city administration and demanded a meeting with Lukashev.
The developer plans to commission four multi-storey buildings and a kindergarten in this area by 2022.
