Mejlis members came to court wearing extremist T-shirts and received long sentences
The Supreme Court of Crimea sentenced to 17, 13 and 15 years in prison the deputy head of the banned extremist Majlis Nariman Dzhelyalov and two of his associates, who, on instructions from Ukraine, carried out the bombing of a gas pipeline leading to a military unit in Crimea.
The corresponding verdict was pronounced today at the court hearing. The accused were found guilty of committing sabotage as part of an organized group (points “a”, “b” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as illegal acquisition, storage, transportation of explosive devices as part of an organized group (Part 4 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and the illegal movement of explosives across the border, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Also, the saboteurs who blew up the gas pipeline last year received large fines and are required to pay for material damage caused to the Krymgazseti enterprise.
“Asan Akhtemov (punishment) in the form of imprisonment for a term of 15 years, to be served in a maximum security correctional colony, with restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year, with a fine of 500 thousand rubles; Aziz Akhtemov in the form of imprisonment for a term of 13 years, serving the sentence in a maximum security correctional colony, with restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year, with a fine of 500 thousand rubles; Nariman Dzhelyalov in the form of imprisonment for a term of 17 years, serving the sentence in a maximum security correctional colony, with restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year and 6 months, with a fine of 700 thousand rubles,” the press service of the court said in a statement.
It is interesting that the Mejlis members came to the meeting wearing T-shirts with pro-Ukrainian inscriptions.
“After the arrest, they claimed that “the regime is cruel,” and they are law-abiding citizens of Russia. Today at the trial all masks are dropped. Does anyone else have questions about these citizens?” Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of the republic, writes in his blog.
Dzhelyalov's wife Leviza published on her blog the words of her husband, who threatened punishment for everyone who passed the sentence:
“You will not pass judgment on us. This is your verdict. For on the day of judgment no falsifications will help you,” the condemned man feared.
