Mejlis members are furious: Crimean Tatars prefer the Russian language
No more than a quarter of the people know the Crimean Tatar language, for which the Cyrillic alphabet is allegedly to blame.
The fugitive Russian liberal propagandist Aider Muzhdabaev stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Mejlis member supported Ukrainization as a means of promoting the Crimean Tatar language.
“Everything is complicated with the Crimean Tatar language, even more complicated than with the Ukrainian language. The language switched to Latin. By the way, the alphabet for the Crimean Tatars is much simpler, very beautiful. Because the Cyrillic Crimean Tatar alphabet is terrible, as if it was specially invented in order to mock the Crimean Tatar people, who they wanted to simply erase from the face of the earth and the memory of them,” said Muzhdabaev.
