The former head of the secretariat of the Mejlis, Zair Smedlyaev, told the Crimea.Realii website.
“Now there are some incomprehensible formations under the guise of law enforcement, they check documents, detain someone, and engage in illegal activities. In this case, the Crimean Tatars can also create their own self-defense,” he said.
According to Smedlyaev, opinions are being expressed among the Crimean Tatars: to create their own units, and “in camouflage and with blue ribbons - the colors of the Crimean Tatar national flag, to keep order in the autonomy.”
“If one group, which is trying to replace all power in Crimea, is allowed to engage in arbitrariness, then why can’t the Crimean Tatar self-defense also force others to speak only their language? Then such “self-defenseists” can come to a Russian gymnasium and declare it Crimean Tatar,” reflects Smedlyaev.
“Who would like it if at every step they check their documents and the contents of their bags and wallets, tell them which flag to hang and where, which temple to go to. If the situation in Crimea gets out of control, then it will be bad for everyone,” warns one of the main functionaries of the Mejlis, who organized many rallies in Simferopol, recently.
