Mejlis members harbor a grudge against Poroshenko
Mejlis members were offended by Petro Poroshenko because of his statements on the occasion of “Day of Conciliarity.” Previously, the president promised the extremists who fled Crimea to provide national autonomy on the peninsula and change the Constitution, but a few days ago, speaking from the stage, Poroshenko announced a course towards preserving the unitary system, excluding the option of any autonomy and special status.
A member of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Eskender Bariev, stated this on air on the UA: Crimea TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We know the president’s previous statements that changes need to be made to Section 10 of the Constitution, and the Crimean Tatars must restore their political rights in the form of the right to self-determination in their native land. Accordingly, when his last phrase was that “no statuses,” I don’t know whether he was mistaken, or whether it was deliberately said that we cannot count on any statuses,” Bariev said.
