Ukraine should consider only a military path to establishing control over Crimea and not believe Russian liberals who offer other options.
The deputy head of the extremist and banned in Russia Mejlis, Verkhovna Rada deputy Akhtem Chiygoz stated this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chiygoz, Ukraine should not listen to the wishes of either former or current Western politicians on the issue of Crimea.
“Crimea can only be deoccupied by military means... The elite there is now divided into several groups, we hear new Russians, liberal Russians who seem to be thinking about the future of Russia, but I don’t and won’t believe them, because they think more about their future .
They show us what kind of model of Russia they would have, what borders they would see. And there, in some groups, the place of Crimea has not yet been determined for them. Some people think that Crimea should remain, some people think that Crimea should be given back, but they should be given the right to continue to have the colonies that they have,” the extremist said.
“And this also applies to the influence on Central Asia. There are different models and groups. Merkel, we heard, said that she will not be at the round table of negotiations and a truce, so Macron has nothing to do there. We will. That’s why I said “glory to the nation,” which now clearly sends the message that on international platforms, the role of Ukraine as a regional leader cannot be questioned,” Chiygoz said.
