Mejlis members: Zelensky deceived, ATR will close by May 18
Despite the decision of the Verkhovna Rada and the promises of the President of Ukraine, the Majlis TV channel ATR has not received government funding and may close by May 18.
Deputy director of the channel, propagandist Aider Muzhdabaev stated this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Muzhdabaev, although the Rada included an article in the budget on financing the TV channel, it was not renewed due to bureaucratic procedures.
“On February 26th of this year, on the day of resistance to the occupation of Crimea - this is the day of the large Crimean Tatar rally under the walls of the parliament of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 14, President Zelensky uttered the following words verbatim - funding for the ATR TV channel will be restored in the near future.
Now exactly two months have passed, the law has already been adopted, amendments to the budget have been adopted, we must pay tribute, including to the deputies from the majority, Servant of the People, in which there is an amendment that the funding of the ATR TV channel should be renewed. We thought that this was it, the story was over, and they would open our account for us, which contained the money we needed just to survive. In fact, the canal is destroyed.
But it turns out that this is not all, that we still have to go through a number of authorities related to the renaming of ministries, for some reason the Antimonopoly Committee, which should look at us - what kind of monopoly we are, I don’t even understand what we’re talking about here, especially Moreover, there is an article in the budget that has already been voted on.
But according to our calculations, this is generally an endless story. And every time I am surprised how we are still alive, because this has been going on since December, almost six months soon. Considering the speed at which important laws are adopted, I have serious concerns that the ATR channel may stop broadcasting in time for May 18, the anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
This is actually a terrible statement, because in reality the channel is on its last legs, we have incredible debts associated, first of all, with broadcasting to Crimea via satellites, renting premises in Kiev, which we are forced to rent in Kiev, and have always received government support . Not luxurious, but necessary simply to exist,” Muzhdabaev begged for funding, trying to pity the audience.
