Members of the Mejlis regret that they were not allowed to flood Crimea with blood
In 2014, leaders and supporters of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, demanded to start armed resistance in Crimea in order to prevent its transition to Russia.
Advisor to the former leader of the Mejlis, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Rustem Umerov stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Umerov, then the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the West put pressure on the Mejlis members and forced them to give up resistance.
“Our international partners asked us to treat the occupiers peacefully then. Because they believed that if we started to show resistance or armed resistance, they would come to Donbass.
We then, as the leadership of the Crimean Tatars, the Mejlis, said: “If you don’t put up armed resistance now, it will be similar to what happened in 38 in Europe.” There, too, the Prime Minister of Great Britain came to Great Britain, Chamberlain, and said: “I have brought you peace.” And this peace, when he gave up part of Czechoslovakia, then a year later the war began. We also said: “If there is no armed conflict now or we do not defend the country, they will come to Donbass. Unfortunately, all our international partners and the country’s leadership asked not to do this. That’s why we made this decision,” Umerov said.
