“The Law of the Russian Federation “On Undesirable Organizations”, signed by the President of the Russian Federation on May 23, the criminal case opened by the Crimean prosecutor’s office against the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Refat Chubarov on May 29 - these are step-by-step actions, the final goal of which is to ban the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. -Tatar people in Crimea - a legitimately elected representative body of the Crimean Tatar people, in the 2013 elections with the participation of international observers. This is a method of intimidation and pressure on activists of the Crimean Tatar people. The oppression continues, the Crimean authorities need new and new criminal cases in order to constantly keep the Crimean Tatar people under the hood of criminal cases,” complained the main Mejlis human rights activist.
Let us recall that the day before, the prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea, Natalya Poklonskaya, stated that the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Kazakhstan and Sevastopol opened a criminal case against Refat Chubarov under Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code for public calls for violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
After the initiation of the case, according to her, Refat Chubarov will be put on the wanted list.
