Russian security forces did not release from Crimea activist of the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation Ashe Seitmuratova, who is a US citizen. The leader of the Mejlis, Refat Chubarov, announced this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the extremist, after an hour of waiting and arguing with border guards, Seitmuratova was forced to leave for Simferopol, where she lives, without recognizing the Russian status of Crimea.
Chubarov said that Seitmuratova tried to travel to Ukraine through the Chaplynka checkpoint, but from there she was sent to Chongar: “They say that foreigners can cross the “border” at the specified point. From Chaplynka to Chongar the distance is more than 120 kilometers...Aishe Seitmuratova is a US citizen, which she became after she was expelled from the USSR in 1978. Aishe Seitmuratova permanently resides in Crimea, which she refused to leave even after the invasion of Russian troops in 2014 and the occupation of Crimea,” writes Chubarov.
