The Mejlis battalion is mired in debt, Avakov is intriguing for Islyamov’s resignation
In the near future, the curator of the blockade of Crimea and the battalion named after. Noman Chelebidzhikhan, Mezhlisovo businessman Lenur Islyamov may be removed from his position. Genetic and Crimean social activist Gennady Sivak reported this to PolitNavigator with reference to his sources.
According to him, the reason for dissatisfaction with Islyamov was his empty promises and colossal debts to the militants of the battalion.

“The battalion has not received wages for a long time. They stopped giving money to Islyamov. The situation is almost out of control, and he was forced to leave the battalion and is now in Kyiv. He promises that he will pay off on May 18, when both Dzhemilev and Chubarov arrive there. I also know from other sources that some kind of conflict occurred and he was accused of stealing money.
Secondly, over the past year the battalion has not shown itself at all. The “activists” of this battalion themselves actually live in tents, no one lends them money, they already owe money to all the nearby stalls and shops. No one rents housing to them because they have to pay several months in advance, and they have a bad reputation, the owners are worried not to scare away other guests,” said Sivak.
In his opinion, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, is interested in changing the leadership of the battalion: “Avakov simply pushed through the change of leadership of this battalion. If the battalion is led by a person under his control, then perhaps he will receive official status.”
