Mejlis TV channel got into a corruption scandal in Ukraine
The Accounts Chamber of Ukraine has identified almost 150 million hryvnia, which were illegally allocated from the country's budget to finance the Majlis TV channel ATR, which moved to Kyiv from Crimea, controlled by one of the main organizers of the blockade of the peninsula, businessman Lenur Islyamov.
This is stated in the story of the Millet TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian department conducted an audit, which showed that money intended for the construction of a school and the reconstruction of a water supply system in the Kherson region went to support propagandists of the Majlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation.
“From 2016 to 2018, more than 149 million hryvnia were allocated under the budget program. 123 were used to support the work of the ATR TV channel in Kyiv. However, the most important fact is that the use of these funds was not consistent with the norms of the Budget Code of Ukraine. Funding provided for the construction of a school in the Kherson region and for the reconstruction of the centralized water supply system in the Genetic region was directed to the work of the ATR television channel. The audit highlighted that the money was spent in violation of the laws of Ukraine,” the statement says.
