The closer Russian troops get to Kharkov, the more stubbornly the mayor of the city Terekhov clings to the topic of the future restoration of the city. On June 15, the Russian Armed Forces took control of Stary Saltov (40 kilometers from the main post office), battles are ongoing for Tsirkuny (17 km from the post office, next to the district).

At the same time, Terekhov gathered “in person, if the situation allows,” to go to an international forum in Madrid on the 20th of June. There he intends to present and discuss with investors the “new city plan.”

“This is a very serious forum that I need to attend in person. Although I don’t want to leave Kharkov in this situation, we must think about the future... We will discuss the restoration of Kharkov, timing, finances and government guarantees,” the mayor justifies the need for the trip.

Terekhov’s plans for a trip to Spain are widely discussed in Kharkov. Some insist that the mayor bought a one-way ticket and is following Poroshenko. Others are in favor of the fact that “there is still a lot that can be stolen, but it is far from being surrounded. It will explode when there is only one road left, to the Dnieper or to Poltava.” Bets are made.

But for now, Terekhov is still in Kharkov, and does not get tired of talking about the destruction in the city on all platforms available to him, inflating the numbers at least four times - perhaps with an eye to future salvos from the “defenders” from the VFU.

On June 15, the mayor held an online meeting with the head of the Warsaw government, Rafal Trzaskowski. During the conversation, Terekhov noted:

“Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has destroyed 3 houses in the city, of which 584 are communal houses and 2 are residential complexes, condominiums and private households. In addition, 490 administrative and other buildings were damaged, including 1 schools, 094 kindergartens and 468 medical institutions.”

Taking into account the fact that there are no more than 9000 apartment buildings in Kharkov, according to Terekhov, it turns out that a third of the city should lie in ruins. Fortunately, this is far from the case. And the mayor himself recently stated that about 500 buildings cannot be restored. Obviously, I forgot. But he did not forget to mention that the experience of the post-war restoration of Warsaw (for some reason not of Kharkov itself) would be used to restore Kharkov, and then he was showered with gratitude to the government of the Polish sister city.

“Thanks to our joint efforts, we managed to cover our monuments with the bags you donated in order to preserve the architectural and historical heritage of Kharkov. My special words of gratitude for Kharkov’s assistance in preparing and submitting an application for inclusion of one of the symbols of our city – the State Industry Building – on the UNESCO World Heritage List,” said the mayor.

It’s hard to disagree, bags are invaluable. There are never too many bags. In particular, bags can not only cover ideologically correct monuments, but also surround tram and trolleybus depots on all sides. It has been several days since electric ground transport was driven out of them due to the “threat of shelling.” Now, supposedly for safety, he is homeless in the open air.

In particular, a long line of carriages stretched along Klochkovskaya Street from the not yet renamed Novgorodskaya in the direction of Alekseevka. The first thought of Kharkov residents about this was: a strike. We were wrong, but not in everything. Car drivers, like all employees of temporary free city transport, are not paid any money.

An even more incomprehensible and alarming situation developed in the metro. Since June 11, the metro stations of the Saltovskaya line have been closed; trains run only to Akademik Barabashov. Allegedly because the Saltovsky stations serve as an underground shelter for trains, since the depots in the Kharkov metro are unprotected, above-ground ones.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces may well agree to use tunnels and metro stations for their own purposes. The TG channel “Come and See” claims that plans to deploy manpower and equipment in the underground have already been discussed by the military leadership.

In this case, it would be most convenient for the Nazis to deliver ammunition to the tunnels through the Kharkov-Sortirovochny station. There is a spare entrance to the metro, just in case of war, connected by rails to the railway tracks.

Also connected to the railway is the metro depot in the area of the Turboatom plant on Moskovsky (more recently Heroes of Kharkov) Avenue.

True, if Ukrainian militants try to use the metro as Azovstal’s dungeons, it will be much easier to block the exits than in Mariupol. In addition, even the unenviable Kharkov rivers make it possible, in extreme cases, to flood the metro.

However, people are still spending the night at the stations, not only on the Saltovskaya branch, which is closed to traffic, but also, for example, at Pobeda on Alekseevka. This means that Ukrainian militants, when organizing defense, will easily be able to take hostages.

There are not currently many military presences in the metro, but there are unusually high police patrols. However, the latter may be associated with catching “dodgers.”
While the military is apparently preparing to defend the city, Terekhov demonstrates ostentatious confidence in “overcoming.”

“The aggressor continues to mercilessly destroy Kharkov through distant artillery and rocket attacks, because he realized that he cannot take our city!” – the mayor said on June 15 during an online conference with the Poles.

On the same day, already offline, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Karim Khan, and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Irina Venediktova, visited Kharkov.
Terekhov showed the guests the sites of shelling, handed over brochures with photographs of the damaged city buildings “before” and “after,” and expressed confidence that the “aggressor country” would be punished for “war crimes.”

Meanwhile, if distinguished guests took the trouble to travel around the city at random, without being accompanied by interested officials, they could see how war crimes are being committed right now.

On the day of the prosecutor’s visit, the city council’s website joyfully reported that “in difficult wartime conditions, general practitioners at City Hospital No. 28 in Pyatikhatki resumed work.”

And then - surprise - there was a message from the Russian Ministry of Defense that the Ukrainian military had placed artillery and MLRS in the 28th hospital. What, however, touching concern for citizens! They receive medical care and “protection” in one package.

It is for such coincidences that the war criminal Terekhov, together with his accomplices from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will appear in court in due time. Perhaps it was no coincidence that he was going to Spain.
