The Tyagnibok mayor initiated repressions against Orthodox Christians
The mayor of Konotop, “Svoboda” member Artem Seminikhin, ordered to dig up the road around the churches of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate with excavators, and also to disconnect the churches from electricity and water supplies.
A video of the mayor giving orders to his assistant was published on his blog by Spartak Sergienko.
The reason for the mayor's indignation was leaflets in which the UOC allegedly invites believers to the blessing of Easter cakes.
“So it’s like that, Sveta. Here's a grader, an excavator, let him dig up the damn road around the churches of the Moscow Patriarchate. Let the electricians turn off the lights, and let the water utility turn off the water. Look what they have now posted all over the residential area. By the way, let him prepare a draft decision for this session - to break all lease agreements with Moscow churches. Look, they're inviting you again, damn it.
Bogdan promised me, he promised me today, he said - only online service. They are already inviting people to the blessing of paskhas. The Kyiv Patriarchate is fine, well done. And by the way, let the lawyers immediately write a statement to the police on my behalf, I’ll sign it, and let them open a criminal case. Now there is quarantine, quarantine measures, and what are they doing? They take the example of Pasha’s Mercedes from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. Already 90 monks are sick and two have died. They think I can spread this coronavirus throughout Konotop,” Seminikhin is indignant.
Earlier in Dnepr, employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reforged the entrance to the St. Panteleimon Church due to the fact that the church received believers on Palm Sunday.
