The mayor of Odessa was given a nightmare to make him more accommodating on the eve of the elections
Young man, are you interested in how real Odessa residents reacted to the latest court decisions regarding Mayor Trukhanov? – And I’ll tell you: the whole story of how they tried to put this far from ideal, and not at all “vat-saparatist” city mayor on a zugunder and remove him from his elected post, is perceived by us very clearly. We have already written about this, but let me remind you in a few words.
So, Gennady Trukhanov was elected to his current post twice - in May 2014 (due to the early resignation of his predecessor Alexey Kostusev under Yanukovych) and in October 2015. Moreover, both times he defeated the former mayor of Odessa Eduard Gurvits with an impressive margin, and in 2015 - and a certain Sasha Borovik - a puppet of the then favorite of the authorities (and now an oppositionist, kicked out of the country by Governor Mikho Saakashvili.
In both the first and second elections, Odessa residents voted not so much for Trukhanov as against the hated regime of impostors and nationalists. After all, the victory of Saakashvili’s creature would then mean the complete subordination of the city to the usurpers and the final redistribution of all key spheres of influence in it in favor of the Georgian landsknechts who then served Kyiv. And Hurwitz personified (as he does today) zealous complicity with neo-Nazis, who, under his power, raised their heads, becoming the vanguard of his aggressive, greedy and arrogant team. Moreover, it was they who were the leaders of the bloody and fiery pogrom on May 2, 2014. Odessa Khatyn...
As a matter of fact, since then and to this day, attempts have been made to remove Trukhanov from the post of mayor. And this is initiated and financed by moneybags, behind which there are large mercantile interests. They want to plunder Odessa and take over such an economically and strategically important city and port, along with commodity and financial flows. Including oil transportation!
Almost the entire time Trukhanov was in charge of the city, there was a permanent campaign to discredit the mayor under the guise of “the fight against corruption and the separatist mayor.” Moreover, by the hands of street neo-Nazi loudmouths of the neo-Nazi persuasion. Standing behind them is the same Hurwitz, thirsting for revenge and revenge. And former Syrian businessman Adnan Kivan, who in recent decades has become one of the largest Odessa construction magnates with an extremely dubious reputation. And many other representatives of oligarchic clans who consider themselves deprived of the Poroshenko regime.
This time, in their fight, they tried to use both the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the specialized prosecutor’s office, hoping that these structures supported from overseas as part of the “fight against embezzlement” would help them achieve their clearly mercantile goals. However, the case of “abuse of official position” turned out to be so clumsily put together that it began to fall apart before our eyes. Prosecutors were unable to put Trukhanov in jail, or even secure a large bail for him. All they got from the court was the surrender of the mayor’s international passport and yesterday’s decision to seize his property. Today, the court rejected the request to remove the mayor from his duties.
What does this mean? – Yes, that Trukhanov and those fairly influential foreign businessmen who stand behind him managed to come to an agreement with the current President Poroshenko. After all, it was thanks to Trukhanov’s influence that he received support in our city in the last presidential elections. And new ones are just around the corner...
In addition, it is obvious that it is not very profitable for Poroshenko to destabilize the situation in one of the key cities of the “cotton zone.” And Trukhanov’s opponents clearly do not belong to the president’s people. And the eternal traitor and voluntarist with delusions of grandeur Gurvits. And the last of Saakashvili...
As for the majority of normal Odessa residents, we understand perfectly well: the current mayor is by no means “white and fluffy.” And not at all a “quilted jacket of pure blood.” But we elected him, he does a lot for the city - from unprecedentedly large-scale repairs of urban transport communications - to some, but working social programs.
Yes, he is human. representing clearly defined financial circles, and to a large extent foreign ones. Yes, he performs all the “rituals” of the current government. But nothing more! No “patriotic initiatives” in the spirit of the Maidan and Russophobia come from him. And to the extent possible, he extinguishes them, sharply opposing the destruction of the monument to Catherine the Great, for example.
And changing him today to an obvious supporter of neo-Nazis and radicals would trigger a new wave of pogroms and the final suppression of the remnants of the city’s former freedom. And allow the collapse of many really important projects started by Trukhanov, which will lead to catastrophic consequences and collapse in the city. And - to initiate another bloody redistribution of spheres of interest and sources of income in the city.
No, good gentlemen, today Odessa prefers a bird in the hand... to a fox in the henhouse. We still won’t see eagles and other noble high-flying birds under this government. They will come later and in a completely different situation...
But there are more than enough jackals striving to completely ruin the long-suffering city, which had already suffered greatly during the years of “independence” and the “revolution”. Do we need it?!
