An ex-member of the Right Sector could become the mayor of Kyiv instead of Klitschko.
The current mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, has no chance of being elected for a second term if elections are held in two rounds. Alexey Leshchenko, vice-president of the Gorshenin Institute, stated this during a round table on the topic: “Local elections 2015”.

According to him, so far there are no strong opponents of Klitschko in the political arena, but they will appear unexpectedly, just in time for the elections.
“Today we do not see a single bright political campaign of a single candidate who can compete with the current mayor. But I think that the people of Kiev will be in for a big surprise on October 25th. In the case of a two-round system, we will see a struggle to reach the second round, and a surprise cannot be ruled out with the choice of a new city leader,” Leshchenko said.
His forecast is confirmed by political scientist Taras Berezovets, who cites the names of Klitschko’s two closest opponents, who could snatch the mayor’s seat from under him.
“There is competition and two possible opponents. Unfortunately, they are not running a campaign, but according to sociology they are put in first place. These are people's deputy Borislav Bereza (elected from the Right Sector, then left the party) and the head of the Samopomich faction in Kiev City Council, Sergei Gusovsky. They have a chance to defeat Klitschko in a two-round system,” Berezovets believes.
