Mehdi Logunov: “The SBU is an organization of swindlers”
Even the most naive and gullible citizens had the opportunity to be convinced that even after the change of power in Ukraine, the words “right” and “law” still remain devalued. The alcohol fumes in the office of the Prosecutor General have dissipated, but the Ukrainian Themis has not become more inclined to sobriety and sanity.
The new Prosecutor General Ryaboshapka organically plays the fool, evading articulate answers to the question of what is happening with the suspicion of Sergei Sternenko.
Let us recall that in May 2018, Sternenko, the former leader of the Odessa regional organization “Right Sector,” during a conflict with passersby, stabbed one of them, a resident of Chernomorsk Ivan Kuznetsov, and wounded the second, Alexander Isaikul. Moreover, Kuznetsov died while the excited Sternenko was streaming from the scene of his own crime.
Criminal proceedings were opened against the Odessa scumbag under articles of premeditated murder and premeditated bodily injury of moderate severity. However, the “Sternenko case” disappeared from Odessa to Kyiv, and there it was transferred to the SBU, where it happily died out.

Recently, through the efforts of Andrei Portnov’s legal team, the “Sternenko case” was revived. But Prosecutor General Ryaboshapka, after a personal meeting with Sternenko, again forwarded the case to the SBU...

Mehdi Feofanovich has been waiting for a year and a half in a pre-trial detention center for the Ukrainian Themis to consider his appeal against an unfair sentence: 12 years in prison for “high treason.” Since last year, court hearings have been endlessly postponed for far-fetched reasons (for example, the lack of preparation of the courtroom!).
This Friday, too, the court hearing did not last long. Photos and video materials from it were provided to Politnavigator by Spartak Golovachev, who was present in court as a correspondent for the Legal Control of Ukraine.
Lawyer Dmitry Tikhonenkov commented on the pending consideration of the appeal: “We wanted to cancel the sentence, which we consider illegal in relation to Logunov. However, at the beginning of the hearing, the prosecutor filed a motion to disqualify one judge, citing the fact that this judge had already made procedural decisions, being an investigating judge at the investigation stage. Naturally, under these circumstances, the court must grant this request. Which is what the court did. And now a new board will be determined and a new date will be set. I want to say that of course this is chaos. Because we have been waiting for an appeal for a year and a half, counting on an acquittal. Mehdi Feonovich is 85 years old. A whole bunch of different diseases. And the whole thing, in my opinion, is a falsification. He is not guilty of any of the actions that he is accused of. And it didn’t exist at all. It was an ordinary provocation. So we are waiting for a new date and a new panel of judges.”
If the judges cannot begin to consider the appeal, then the guards with the shepherd dog, as video footage shows, are working hard. They brought in a “dangerous criminal” and removed the handcuffs for the duration of his stay in the “glass”. Mehdi Logunov asked if he could kiss his daughter. The guard is incorruptible - he answered with a categorical refusal. The 85-year-old “adversary” was returned to the pre-trial detention center.
Mehdi Logunov is indignant: “426 days without any procedural actions against me. I asked many times to be taken out to familiarize myself with the materials that came here. And the materials are as follows: there were 1312 sheets of pre-trial investigation materials, but only 825 came here. There were 8 volumes, but 5 volumes came here. I asked over these months to give me the opportunity to familiarize myself with what it is like here. The Court of Appeal is engaged in lawlessness and lawlessness.”
Spartak Golovachev notes: despite the fact that the consideration of the appeal is being delayed as much as possible, the 85-year-old prisoner is not receiving medical assistance. Mehdi Logunov told him that during this time, 15 of his teeth fell out (the political prisoner keeps them in a box to later show European human rights activists the conditions in which he survived in a Ukrainian pre-trial detention center). In this way they are trying to physically rot him.
Mehdi Logunov believes that the lawlessness is not only that his right to defense is violated, since he is deprived of the opportunity to get acquainted with the case materials. But there is also a possibility that the case materials are being cleaned up.
The political prisoner says: “They could have falsified everything there again. The SBU is an organization of swindlers. They're scared. Because if I go out and start telling (and I’ll go to Europe if I go out) all this. And I will achieve (at least, I will strive) that the SBU will be declared the same criminal organization as the Gestapo.
Of course, they are far from the Gestapo. The professionals were sitting there. And here sit swindlers who are fixing their financial affairs. 350 different employees of the SBU, the prosecutor's office, the Ministry of Defense, and research institutes are doing the wrong thing. The result is a single episode of 53 kilobytes, in which completely unclassified materials were taken from the Internet from the public domain! And they mold me this.”
