Most of the residents of Ukraine, at least half of the population, speak Russian and do not harbor hostility towards the residents of Russia, musician and producer Konstantin Meladze said on the Dozhd TV channel.

“There is no dislike for Russians, there cannot be and there never will be, it seems to me. Simply because Kyiv is mainly a Russian-speaking city. And most of Ukraine is more of a Russian-speaking country. At least 50% percent. All my life I spoke Russian there, my friends, etc. A Russian cannot be some kind of alien entity for a Ukrainian, like a German or a Chinese.
Rather, a not very good attitude is formed towards the authorities and so on. But this is understandable, because all the chaos that is happening is associated with them. They are connected with the political hostility of the authorities,” Meladze said.
“It all started with ordinary internal dissatisfaction with the authorities, and then it all grew into a conflict between two states. This was not part of the plans of a single person who lives in Ukraine. No one wanted this, no one expected this. What happened next seems like a nightmare. Both of these countries are dear to me,” added the producer.
According to Meladze, he still lives in Ukraine and films videos there, but earns money in Russia.
“In Kyiv I do all this - I write songs there, record my artists, mix these songs, shoot videos, sew clothes. And here, in fact, all this is published, because here is the center of Russian-language music, because here are all the radio stations, television, the press, which broadcasts to the entire Russian-speaking world,” Meladze said
