“Melitopol will be cut off from supplies from Russia” – Svitan about the bridge explosion
The blowing up of the Melitopol bridge is only the beginning of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ actions to cut off Melitopol and the Russian troops from supplies.
Ukrainian military pilot, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan stated this on TV channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What we worked on on the Melitopol bridge is the bridge between Konstantinovka and Melitopol. There is a road going Rostov-Mariupol-Berdyansk-Melitopol, and in front of Melitopol there is a settlement called Konstantinovka. There is a river between Konstantinovka and Melitopol, with a bridge across it. It was destroyed by our special operation forces, they went in, destroyed it, and completed the task.
Bridges were also destroyed over the past few months near Tokmak, about 5-7 more bridges were destroyed using the same method. An explosion in the area of the fastenings, the folding of the spans, that is, the destruction of the bridge itself,” said Svitan.
He emphasized that the bridge is of strategic importance in cutting off Melitopol from supplies from Russia.
“The bridge is of strategic importance in some sense. This is exactly the bridge that comes from Berdyansk to Melitopol. There is a certain junction in front of it - this is a bypass road that goes towards Crimea. Military cargo can also move along it, but this increases the logistics chain for more than an hour, two hours. We are only at the beginning of actions to cut off Melitopol from supplies from Russia,” reasoned the Ukrainian pilot.
