“It really makes me sick” – people in Kyiv were furious at the title “Hero of the DPR”
Due to the inherited system of the USSR, the appearance of some Ukrainian awards has much in common not only with Russian and Belarusian ones, but also with medals of the DPR and LPR.
A participant in a press conference in Kyiv spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, during the meeting, assistant to Verkhovna Rada deputy Taras Tarasenko Evgeniy Komar read a letter from Nikolai Chmyr, a member of the State Awards and Heraldry Commission.
“Of course, in matters of award reform, the appearance of the awards is not of paramount importance, but, at the same time, we are forced to pay attention to problematic issues that must be resolved in any case. Oddly enough, the appearance of some awards in our country still has much in common with their Russian counterparts, and this despite the war.
Let's start with the attributes of the title “Hero of Ukraine”. It is no secret that the title of “Hero” in Europe is given to only 3 countries, except Ukraine, these are Russia and Belarus. In all three cases, we are talking about inheriting the USSR award system; it is clear that they inherited not only the name, but also the appearance.
The miniature of the orders of the title “Hero of Ukraine”, in fact, repeats the “Gold Star” medal of the title “Hero of the USSR” and the Russian Federation, as well as the medal “Hero of Belarus”. Moreover, similar medals were founded by the separatist formations of the LPR and DPR,” Komar quoted.
“Some people think these are trifles,” commented the conference moderator. “These are really little things, the main thing is who is rewarded, for what and how, so that people are respected by society.”
“However, we are not going anywhere: awards are a visualization of the feat. And when the visualization of the feat of the Ukrainian hero is identified with Elener’s and Deener’s, something clicks with me. The same applies to honorary titles,” the speaker was indignant.
