Menyailo: There are no more places in hotels in Sevastopol for the May holidays

He stated this during a business breakfast at the editorial office. "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". According to Menyailo, Sevastopol is not a resort city, so the stay of tourists here is shorter than on the southern coast of Crimea: a maximum of two weeks. At the same time, the city authorities will focus on “military tourism.”

When asked by the editor of the RG how it is planned to attract travelers to the region, Sergei Menyailo replied that this will be done “primarily by our wonderful boarding houses, holiday homes and other places of health. Today we have more than 400 of them.”
According to the governor, “last year the load was only 70 percent due to problems with logistics, the collapse of the unified payment system, and so on. In addition, people were simply afraid to visit our city in such a tense political situation. This year the situation should change. We expect an influx of almost 400 thousand tourists. By the way, this is the same number as the number of residents in Sevastopol.”
“But they will come not only for sanatoriums and beaches,” Menyailo emphasized. -I always repeat that Sevastopol is not a resort city. This is not Alushta or Alupka, where people come to relax for 2-3 months. People come to us for a maximum of two weeks to get medical treatment, breathe the sea air, see the sights, and take part in interesting events.”
According to the governor, “there will be many such events in Sevastopol in the near future. On Victory Day, for example, we will have a military parade, a naval parade and an air force parade. More than 40 events are planned to be held on the eve of May 9: “St. George’s Ribbon”, “Our Victory”, “Roads of Victory” and so on. It may well be that tourists will be able to visit warships. We also have various festivals planned. Not surprisingly, all hotel rooms for these dates are already booked.”
“In addition, we will have a major bike show,” Menyailo recalled. -A lot of tourists will come to all these events. And in the future we will attract tourists with our historical and cultural monuments.”
