Menyailo instructed to deal with private traders controlling the power grids of Sevastopol
The authorities of Sevastopol will check the situation around the city’s electrical networks, some of which were transferred to private companies.
The corresponding instruction was given by Governor Sergei Menyailo at a meeting of the city government.

The reason for the order was an accident on power grids that had previously been transferred to a private company. The company took 19 hours to fix the problem, reported the head of the civil protection department, Igor Vasiliev.
“For a company that owns only one TP and a small network, such a long time to resolve an accident is abnormal. Despite the difficult situation with increased energy consumption due to very hot weather,” Vasiliev said.
Menyailo instructed PJSC Sevastopolenergo to figure out on what basis and to which organizations the power grids were transferred to the balance sheet.
“Let’s figure out how it happened that the substation and networks are on their balance sheet. The argument that this was the case is not an argument. Let's put everything on the legal track. In our country, sometimes you look around and wonder how state networks are transferred to a private structure for free use. No auction. A private structure makes money from this, but does not pay anything to the treasury,” Menyailo said.
