Menyailo nominated Chaly’s supporter as a senator in order to make peace with him
Moscow - Simferopol, September 25 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Acting head of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo nominated deputies Andrei Sobolev, Olga Timofeeva and Tatyana Lobach to the city’s legislative assembly for the post of member of the Federation Council from the executive branch. Timofeeva is a member of the team of Legislative Assembly Speaker Alexei Chaly, with whom Menyailo now wants to make peace before the election of a governor in the Legislative Assembly.

On October 9, the legislative assembly of Sevastopol will have to approve Mr. Menyailo as the governor of the city, and he, like all candidates who are running for heads of constituent entities, must present his three candidates for senators.
Director of the Institute of CIS Countries, former candidate for deputy of the legislative assembly Konstantin Zatulin called Olga Timofeeva “an ardent supporter of Alexei Chaly.” In his opinion, the appearance of this candidacy in Sergei Menyailo’s list of candidates indicates that the acting head of Sevastopol “is not confident that on October 9 the legislative assembly will approve him as governor.”
Alexey Chaly will try to “lobby” for the appointment of “his people” as senators, political scientist Andrei Nikiforov is sure. According to him, two “insiders” in the Federation Council will give Mr. Chaly the opportunity for additional communications in Moscow and “will complicate this communication for the governor.” The senator from the legislative assembly will be elected at the parliament meeting on September 30.
