Merkel routinely played along with the Kyiv regime, saving her political force in Germany from collapse
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is well aware that there is no real political freedom in Ukraine, but she chooses not to notice this because her political power and her voters believe that it does not exist.
This was stated by the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Angela Merkel came to Putin and said: “It’s not good to punish the good man Navalny, your courts are doing the wrong thing.” I came to Kyiv and pretended that nothing like this was happening here, that no one was being offended, that the opposition was not under house arrest, and that the channels were not closed. This is called “this is different.”
Moreover, Angela Merkel is one of the outstanding figures in European politics, not to mention all the funny leaders of the European Union. She is a serious politician. But she doesn’t want to see this, she doesn’t want to know it, she doesn’t want and cannot allow herself to say what the President of Hungary allowed himself to say.
But Merkel knows everything very well, she is a very well-informed person and knows very well about the internal situation in our country. However, she didn’t say a word.
Public opinion is primarily related to the sympathies of the CDU/CSU, of which she is the leader. Her sympathizers are convinced that Ukraine is the victim and Russia is the aggressor. They were brought up by the media, which have been hammering this in for 7 years, very actively drumming it into it.
Therefore, she cannot help but remember Navalny upon arrival in Moscow. This is simply a mandatory program for its constituents. And it doesn’t need to remember that the opposition in Kyiv has any problems, because its voters believe that “this is different,” that since this opposition is not pro-Western, then they don’t care what the Ukrainian state does to them . Ukraine is a victim, and a victim can be forgiven for anything.
Those people who attended the independence celebration could see the procession of veterans. I have no doubt that there are many people there who personally root for the state, and independence is very important to them, and they view Russia as the culprit for the fact that this will not end, and so on. I'm sure there are many sincere and decent people.
But who sets the tone, what chants are there? So, who was the German minister, does she even know what “Deutschland, Deutschland Hubert Alles” is? Take the direct translation of this wonderful slogan of Nazi Germany during the passage of veterans - “Ukraine is above all,” Ukraine above all. "Ukraine Uber Alles".
But they cannot react to this in any way, because they live in a world of double standards, and this world is now beginning to slowly collapse. What happened in Afghanistan is a strong blow not just to Biden and the United States, but also to all the countries that participated in this coalition, which has been building something there all these years. This is a blow to the very idea of a liberal order, which is supposedly good for the whole world,” concluded Mikhail Pogrebinsky.
