Merkel and Putin forced Poroshenko to do the splits
Kiev
The world superpowers are forcing Petro Poroshenko to compromise with Donbass, which the Ukrainian voter, inflamed by nationalist slogans, will not understand.

“Moscow, for concessions on Ukraine, will make compromises in the Middle East. And this is not surprising - the strong will always find a common language among themselves on how to strangle the weak. Especially when stability in one of the main oil and gas regions is at stake.
I don’t know what everyone on Bankova thinks about this. But the fact that Merkel and Poroshenko did not attend a joint briefing after the talks on Wednesday suggests that, firstly, there is nothing to talk about. And, secondly, the fact that Poroshenko is far from a fool and understands well that he is being put on a split between the interests of his own people, which cannot be ignored, and the agreements of the superpowers.

I think they will try to present actual federalization to the public as deep decentralization, with such a volume of local self-government rights that even Poland could envy.
But the president’s political opponents will make every effort to ensure that the emphasis is placed as necessary to lose confidence in Petro Poroshenko. Therefore, the next month will be decisive for many,” says Paliychuk.
