Merkel sent her husband away and is waiting for Putin
Both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin attach great importance to their meeting, which is to take place this week, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on air on the 112 TV channel.
“August is the low season, especially in Europe. Merkel usually spends this time in Switzerland or Sardinia. Now she has sent her husband away, and she is sitting in Berlin. Putin also goes to Germany during the holiday period,” Karasev said.
At the same time, he believes that the officially announced topics of the meeting will not actually be discussed.
“I think Syria and Ukraine are like that. They will say something about the Minsk agreements - standard phrases. The main thing for them is energy and sanctions. If the Americans introduce them on August 22, they will hit European companies. The EU is already looking at some solutions to remove these companies from the sanctions list,” Karasev said.
