The director of the Center for Political Marketing, Vasily Stoyakin, said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, assessing the latest meeting between President Poroshenko and German Chancellor Merkel.
“Over the last year or so, the officially declared positions of Poroshenko and Merkel have been rapidly moving closer together. If at first Merkel may have fantasized about going down in history as the person who organized the end of the conflict in Donbass, now, in my opinion, she has completely different plans - to become at the center of the global front against “Russian aggression and expansion,” – noted the political scientist.
In his opinion, Poroshenko’s harsh anti-Russian speech at the congress of the European People’s Party was agreed with Merkel.
“And now something in the same spirit was discussed. What was discussed there was not Minsk, which has long been buried and no one will deal with it, this is already a useless exercise. Most likely, questions were discussed about how to make sure that Russia and only Russia were to blame for the failure of the Minsk agreements, Stoyakin believes. – If the conversation was in this vein, then Poroshenko was very pleased and happy. That is, they will not pull him for failure to comply with the Minsk agreements, but, on the contrary, will support him in continuing the war against “Putin’s aggression.”
